Exciting Easter Weekend

Our neighborhood had its annual Easter Egg hunt and cupcake contest on Saturday--I helped with the coordination, which meant Em could go over with me and have some extra time in the bounce house with a friend before it got crowded.  She was pretty excited about that!
Our Easter Bunny arrived on the back of a Harley!
After pictures with the Bunny, all the dads went out to hide the eggs (and the kids cheered them on from the clubhouse balcony).
This is Em's little friend Ella--they actually were in the same class when Em was at Gateway a couple of years ago.  They're the same age and will start kindergarten together this fall.  There are lots of kids Em's age in the neighborhood, so it's nice that she'll know some when she goes to the big school!
We split the kids into two groups for the egg hunt because there were a lot of really young kids who didn't have a fair shot with the bigger ones.
Everyone found plenty of eggs!
On Easter Sunday, we were on our way home from the grocery store and had bought a bag of carrots to stop and feed the horses.  There's a horse farm near our house and we sometimes pass it and talk about stopping to see them.  I've seen people out there before, so we decided to give it a shot.  We pulled out our carrots and the horses came right over to the fence.  After we fed them a few, we looked up to see a lady on a golf cart heading toward us--Mick was sure we were about to get in trouble, but it was too late to run, so we waited to see what she'd say.  As she got closer, we could tell she was waving and smiling.  She pulled up and said she was getting ready to saddle up one of the horses so her 5 year old daughter and her cousin could ride, and asked if Em wanted to ride too! Not a tough decision for our little animal lover.  Mick ran home to take the groceries back, and Em and I rode to the house with her on the golf cart.

When we got to the house, there were two little girls in a small fenced area with bunnies!  Em was ecstatic, and jumped right in.
Then the lady let us walk out with her to get Dakota, the black and white horse they'd ride.  Em wasn't the least bit shy--she is completely crazy about animals.
She took control and led Dakota back to the barn, talking the whole way.
She looked like a natural when she got in the saddle!
It didn't take her long to start asking for a horse.  We stayed almost two hours, and they invited us to come back any time we saw the gate open!  Southern hospitality at its finest :)!
That afternoon, we dyed eggs (better late than never!).
This was one of Em's masterpieces.
And Mick got to take some really fancy boiled eggs to work with his lunch this week!
